We are seeking a creative, motivated candidate who would either initially join one of the existing teams at the Department of Experimental Plant Biology (see https://www.natur.cuni.cz/biology/plant-biology/science-and-research) and participate in their research as a (senior) postdoc, with a perspective of applying for external funding and starting an independent research group, or establish a (small) research group from the beginning (additional support for a part-time technician and one PhD student as well as consumables is negotiable).

The contract is renewable with a perspective of obtaining a stable academic position.

The candidate will have the opportunity to supervise or co-supervise undergraduate and graduate students ́ research projects and may engage in other teaching activities depending on further agreement.

Required attachments of the application are:

  • 2 letters of reference
  • Attachment 1: Brief (up to 3 pages incl. references) summary of the proposed research

The research proposals and other documents provided by the applicants will be evaluated by a committee including the concerned group leaders continuously and best suited candidates will be invited to an in-person or online interview.

PhD in a relevant field, previous postdoctoral experience highly welcome.

The candidate should demonstrate relevant first- or senior-author publication history, scientific enthusiasm and deep contextual understanding in an area of research within the broader field of plant physiology and developmental biology, familiarity with topics studied in thematically close labs of the Department (or in the prospective host lab), as well as the ability to formulate a brief proposal summarizing scientific intentions. Preliminary consultation with respective group leaders is strongly encouraged.
